Char is a planet positioned in the Zerg Quarantine Zone, in close proximity to Koprulu Sector. The volcanic planet is home for approximately ten billion Zerg. Char was discovered by the Terrans and then colonized by Zerg at some point in the first StarCraft game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Char was the planet where Sarah Kerrigan was transformed by Zerg and the place where she becomes Queen of Blades.
The planet was the location of quite a few fights between Terrans, Zerg and Protoss and the wars continued until the Overmind founded Aiur. After that, the Overmind left Queen of Blades on the planet Char to fight with the rival army. The planet has two natural satellites, Ate and Eris, both purple and with a diameter of approximately one hundred kilometers. Also, around planet orbits a debris field.
A volcanic planet
All the mountains from Char are volcanic and the planet is tectonically active. Adding up, Char has five lava seas, 38 lava lakes and 52 volcanic calderas. The volcanic release, driven by great tectonic movements, frequently oozes to the exterior. Also, Char has substantial layers of powder residues which can cause confusion on susceptible tools and cover risks such as magma pools. Clouds of powder obstruct the sight of the stars, making map-reading complicated. Adding up, changeable magnetic fields transform magnetic compasses into untrustworthy equipments. An exposed Terran might stay alive on Char, though dangerously. In spite of circumstances, little pockets of water are present on the exterior of the planet. Despite the fact that Char has no native existence forms, undersized rodents and ragnasaurus have managed to stay alive. This planet is one of the abounding reserve region in the sector. The tectonic movements repeatedly expose geysers of vespene gas and loads of minerals. The short-term islands shaped from the molten rock are stuffed with minerals. The exterior of Char can get to such tremendous degrees that mineral layers liquefy, producing rivers which go for months before calcifying. This is how are shaped mineral laden pathways which help as rich mining fields and landmarks.
The world of Kerrigan
Char was chosen as a headquarters by the Zerg after they caught Sarah Kerrigan. The planet was perfect for their planes due to its magma pools, twisting cliffs and other natural forms which permitted Zerg to conceal from their opponents and to hide their hatcheries. Another theory considers that the Zerg selected Char due to its unfriendly nature and the level of radiation. In these conditions, the uninviting environment makes it simple to protect and the elevated emission levels support an elevated mutation speed in the Zerg, providing forced growth of specialist strains. On Char, Kerrigan tried to trap Protoss leaders. The hight templar Tassardar and the Dark Templar Zeratul were lured to Char with Kerrigan’s psychic signal. There, they rally with the Terran Jim Raynor and his Raiders and shape a coalition against Zerg. In the meantime, Sarah Kerrigan found The Protoss and challenged Tassadar to a fight. During the Bood War, the planet Char became the home of the new Zerg Overmind. The planet is still beneath Zerg direct power throughout the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.11
