Starcraft 2 Name Change

In mid 2010, Blizzard has stated that players can change their names, for free. All that players have to do is to search the Account Management page and the Star Craft II game license. Then, they should look for Character Name Change solution. The person who decides to change it again will pay a 10 dollar fee. The name is a very important characteristic.

The rest of the players will make an impression about you based on the name. The company’s policy about the choosing of the player’s name is very strict. If a player’s name is inappropriate, the company will take actions. As expected, players shouldn’t wish for an inappropriate name, mainly if Blizzard would consider it racial, ethnic, obscene, of national origin, or vulgar. Also, are forbidden the names or aliases of Blizzard’s employees.

A second chance
The purpose for all these actions is that Blizzard desires an entertaining and protected atmosphere for all players. If someone desires to change again his name, he should pay the necessary fee and follow the steps from Battle.net Account via Battle.net Account Management. From this point, the player should go to “manage games” and select StarCraft II game copy with the character you wish to rename. The player should see the Name Change button. If account has a Free Name Change accessible, it will say that it is free and available. From this moment you remain with this name forever. Also, it is important to know that names are not unique. So demanding to maintain an exclusive name like “Sarah Kerrigan” is useless, because in the game can be many other “Sarah Kerrigan” names. What differences the players is the character code. If you would like to play with a certain friend, you have to tell him your character code and name so he can include you and not mistake you with another players with the similar given name. Also, it is impossible to create more than one account, to delete the existing one, to rename it or to create another one.

The list of inappropriate names
Here is the list of the words considered inappropriate by the company. On its official site, Blizzard Entertainment offered an entire list of highly inappropriate names. So, are against company’s policies names that allude to racial, ethnic, national appellation, extreme sexuality, violence, sexual orientation, obscene, vulgar but also inappropriate, advertising, defamatory and harassing. As the company explains this names are constrained and will most probable obtain an account punishment on the first request. Constantly violating these terms will probably attract a temporary suspension from the game. Also, this rule is not language restraining.

If a player violates the naming policy he could receive a warning. Then, the company will assign him an arbitrarily generated name. Also, the player may be temporarily suspended from Starcraft II. The ultimate step is the final warning. Any additional rule violation will lead to a permanent suspension.11
